As the end of the year approaches, the anticipation of the Christmas spirit begins to transform the urban landscape. While in Argentina, tradition marks an unchangeable date in the liturgical calendar, in Europe, the race for festive lighting has already begun, becoming a tourist and commercial spectacle that combines technology and design. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, locally the historical custom will be respected: the official lighting of the Christmas tree and decorations in the City of Buenos Aires is scheduled for next Monday, December 8th, coinciding with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The Spanish capital will deploy more than 200 lit-up areas across its 21 districts, with monumental infrastructure: 157 kilometers of light chains, a distance equivalent to traveling from Madrid to Toledo and back. The project focuses on energy efficiency with 100% LED technology and authorial design. The scheduled time for the main tree's lights to shine is usually at dusk, around 8:00 PM, although the commercial logic of Black Friday has already anticipated decorations in the country's main shopping malls.
Not December 8th: This is the new recommended date to set up the Christmas Tree Madrid: 157 kilometers of lights and exclusive designs The big novelty of the season comes from Spain. Madrid is finalizing the details for an inauguration expected for the last weekend of November (between Thursday 27 and Friday 28). This year, the Association of Spanish Fashion Creators (ACME) collaborated to intervene in streets with exclusive styles, while the avenues adjacent to Plaza Mayor will display lights designed by elementary school children, winners of a school drawing contest. The Madrid decoration also includes 13 large firs, more than 7,000 light chains, and 126 luminous cherry trees, seeking to reduce light pollution without losing spectacularity.
